To each of our children’s families, thank you so much for all of your support this year. An extra thank you for all of the thoughtful gifts and cards that you have shared with us, it is incredibly appreciated. We hope each of our wonderful Y2 children have a fun-filled, happy and safe Summer ready to soar into KS2 in September. We are SO proud of each and every single one of them.
All our love,
Miss Rundle, Miss Brame, Miss Gilmore and Mrs Smith. X
On Monday, Year 2 Bryon are visiting GRIP Adventure to enhance our Geography learning. Please can your child come to school wearing waterproof, warm clothes as we will be outdoors for the majority of the day regardless of the weather. Please also send your child in with a packed lunch in a disposable bag so that they do not need to carry it around for the remainder of the day. Many thanks, Miss Rundle.
Homework 26.4.24
For homework this week, Year 2 will continue to make a log of observations in their sunflower diary recording height, number of leaves, drawing a picture of their seedling if it has germinated and write some sentences to describe what has happened.
Thank you the Year 2 teachers.
19.4.24 - Homework This Week
For homework this week please look after your sunflower and keep it watered. Use the first page of your sunflower diary to write instructions for planting the sunflower.
Just to confirm, spelling tests will be each Thursday from this week commencing. Many thanks, your Y2 Team.
Apologies for any confusion, we can confirm that it is now Bryon Class who will be taking part in the Forest Garden sessions for the next 3 weeks. Therefore, they will need to attend school in the appropriate footwear and clothing ready for this session.
Many thanks,
Y2 Team

Year 2 Homework 15.12.23
This week as it is approaching Christmas, we are not going to test the children's spellings next week. Instead, we will be sending home a Christmas common exception word word search for the children to complete. The spellings are on Spelling Shed if your child would still like to practise them. Many thanks.
Tomorrow (21st November) is Bryon Class' first Forest Garden session with GRIP Adventure. Please ensure that your child comes to school in appropriate outdoor/waterproof clothing. Wellies will also be needed for the session. This will continue every Tuesday until the end of term. Many thanks, Miss Rundle.
Thank you to all of the parents/family members who have volunteered to support on our Theatre Trip on 18th December. If you have informed us that you are able to help, thank you very much and we require all of those who have said they can. We will email you with details closer to the time. Any other parents/family members who may be available to support on that date, please chat to a member of the Year 2 Team. Many thanks for your support!
The Year 2 Wilson Class Assembly will take place on Wednesday 8th November. We look forward to showing you all of the wonderful work that Wilson Class have been up to this term. It will begin at 2.30pm. Many thanks!
'Forest Garden' Sessions are now on pause for Wilson and will return again later in the year. Rosen will start their sessions next week on Tuesday 17th October.
Forest Garden Session Dates
Forest Garden sessions will take place in four week blocks for one year 2 class. During this time the other 2 classes will be doing PE. Wilson will start Forest School on Tuesday 19th September.
Rosen Forest Garden Sessions:
Tuesday 17th October
Tuesday 31st October
Tuesday 7th November
Tuesday 14th November
Wilson Forest Garden Sessions:
Tuesday 19th September
Tuesday 26th September
Tuesday 3rd October
Tuesday 10th October
Children taking part in Forest Garden sessions will need to come into school in their own comfortable clothes ready for an outdoor session on these days not PE kit. Please ensure they are ready for the weather on the day. This may mean they need a waterproof coat and wellington boots. Wellington boots and waterproofs can be brought into school in a named carrier bag. Please make sure your child is wearing trainers or other shoes that they can change into after the session when they change out of their wellingtons or other muddy shoes. If your child is taking part in these sessions on a Tuesday, they will not need PE kits in school on a Tuesday.
The classes who are having PE lessons will come into school in PE kits on the above dates as they will be having PE lessons rather than Forest School sessions.

All of the log ins your child should require for learning at home throughout Year 2 will be stuck into the front of their reading records over the next couple of days. This is just as they were when the children were in Year 1. Please let your child’s class teacher know if you think you may be missing any or if any of your child’s log ins are not working so we can get these sorted for you.
Many thanks,
Your Year 2 Team

What a great start to the year to come back to school in the lovely sunshine! This week the children have been taking part in some settling in activities whilst they get to know the year 2 classrooms and routines.
Our usual timetable of lessons will start next week. Year 2 will have PE twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays. Our first PE session will be on Monday 11th September. Children will need to come to school in their PE kit.
This week, we are gradually giving out reading books to the children. They will receive two reading books per week on their reading day, which they should read a number of times throughout the week at home as part of their homework. Please make a comment in their reading record each week to record their reading sessions at home.
We will be continuing with the reading book level set by the Year 1 teachers for the children until we get to know them over the next few weeks and then we will make some changes to reading book levels if needed around half term.
If you need to contact us, please email us at the Year 2 email address: year2@springfieldprimary.net or you can speak to a member of staff on the door in the mornings and after school.
We look forward to meeting you all.
The Year 2 Team
