Leadership

Updating lunchtime equipment

The FLASH reps have led an assembly in how the children are to use the new playground equipment. They received training on how the games should be set up and played with. They will share this knowledge with others at lunchtime.

KS1 Let’s Run!

On Saturday 22nd March we held our first key stage one cross country race at Worthington Park. The sun shone and it was a huge success with around 80 children running. We also led a teachers and parents 5km run after it too. 10 key stage two children led warm ups for the children then ran with the KS1 children showing them the way and encouraging them.

Girls Football

Our series of events for ‘Let Girls Play’ began first thing Monday morning, when local and special educational needs school Delamere came to visit. They brought eight girls of differing abilities and needs. After introductions, a welcome, and a teacher led warm up, four pupils from year six delivered drills to pupils. Our year sixes had practised these drills after school, on the Friday night in their own time. Clear instructions were given by our pupils, and following a demonstration, the Delamere pupils carried out the drills with confidence. There was plenty of support and encouragement from our young leaders. We then had a penalty shoot out followed by a game. The Delamere pupils dominated possession but the final score was 1-1. Premier League prizes were given out and the Delamere pupils left with huge smiles on their faces. It was wonderful to have them visit and participate in activity at our school, and promote inclusivity. Sport is for all!

Year two playground leaders

The year two playground leader children (4 different children every two weeks) have been encouraging others to take part in small challenges on the playground at playtimes (2 challenges every 2 weeks). The winner of each challenge is presented with a certificate in praise assembly. The challenges remain on display for the children to have another try at during their lunch or playtime.
