Online Safety

At Springfield we are proactive and robust when it comes to online safety.

Mr Moth is our Online Safety Officer (OSO) and he works closely with Mrs Chard, our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

Springfield employs many strategies for managing online safety and the children are regularly educated about staying safe online in their computing lessons, through the work of our Online Safety Council and through assemblies and events, including Safer Internet Day.

Springfield is supported in this challenge by the South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL) and their 360 Safe Online Safety Assessment Tool. Mr Moth has attended numerous training sessions delivered by the director of SWGfL - Ken Corish - one of the most experienced and knowledgeable online safety consultants in the country.

Springfield also subscribes to the National Online Safety (NOS) service, who provide Springfield staff with training and resources to deliver the latest information to our children and wider community, including newsletters and free webinar training for parents/carers.

Online Safety Council

Springfield's Online Safety Council meet regularly to discuss Online Safety issues involving our children. The council disseminate information back to their classes, take feedback and provide a platform for pupil voice. At the Christmas Fair the council ran a stall giving out information to children and parents, including an Online Safety Pledge which had been developed, consulting staff, pupils and experts.
