We believe that the learning of a foreign language provides a valuable educational, social and cultural experience for our pupils. It helps them to develop communication skills, including speaking, listening, reading and writing, and it extends their knowledge of how language works. Learning another language gives children a new perspective on the world, encouraging them to make comparisons and understand their own cultures and those of others.
We held our first Spanish Ambassadors meeting before half term. Each year group has at least 3 representatives for Spanish from Y1-Y6.
In our first meeting, each ambassador received their important badge and we began to discuss how we can raise the profile of Spanish learning at Springfield. The children had some great ideas of how they want to use their role within their classes, year groups and across the school and why it is important to promote a love of languages.
