FAQs

What time does school start?

 

The doors open at 8:50am for children in Reception - Y6. The doors close at 9:00am. Children arriving after 9:00am need to sign in at the office.

Our Nursery opens at 8:45am. Please see the Useful Information page for full timings of the school day.

 

 

What time does school finish?

 

For children in Reception - Y2 school finishes at 3:20pm.

For children in Y3-6 school finishes at 3:30pm.

What is STAR Club?

 

STAR Club (Springfield Taking An Active Role) is our wrap around care, catering for breakfast club before school, an after school club and a holiday club. In a morning the STAR Breakfast Club opens at 7:30am and runs until school starts at 8:50am, when children are taken directly to their class room. After school STAR Club runs from 3:20pm until 6:00pm. Children are taken directly from their class room to STAR Club until their parents are ready to collect them. 

 

 

If my child is at STAR Club, where do I drop them off / collect them?

 

Children at STAR Club should be dropped off and collected via the STAR Club door located on Springfield Road (opposite Nationwide). 

 

 

If my child is at an after school club, where do I collect them from?

 

Children attending after school clubs should be collected from the main entrance by the office, unless otherwise stated (such as Cross Country Club). Parents / Carers collecting should wait in the waiting area in front of school, not in the car park.

 

 

What if my child is at an after school club and STAR Club?

 

Children attending an after school club will be taken directly to STAR Club. Parents need not change their arrangements and collect children from STAR Club at the time they would usually.

 

 

What after school clubs can my child attend?

 

Springfield offers a wide range of after school activities for children in Reception - Y6. A timetable detailing all of the extra curricular clubs is available on the "Extra Curricular Clubs" page of the website. Information about all the clubs is also available via the school office.

 

 

How do I know if my child's club is on or not?

 

Dates and times of when clubs are on are communicated to parents and children. They will only be cancelled in extreme weather or if the member of staff is absent. This will be communicated to parents of children attending the club by text message.

 

 

When are the school holidays?

What should I do if my child is ill?

 

If your child is ill and unable to come to school, please telephone the school office 0161 973 4149. Select option 1 to report an absence if you can't speak to a member of staff. This needs to be done each day that your child is ill, unless for an extended period, in which case please inform staff about the extended period when convenient.  If your child has sickness and or diarrhoea, they need to stay off school for 48 hours from the most recent episode.

 

 

Can staff give my child medicine?

 

Only prescription medicines can be given by school staff. A medicine form needs to be filled in at the office first. Calpol, eye drops, ear drops and child paracetamol / ibuprofen can not be given.

 

 

Can my child bring their mobile phone to school?

 

Children in Y5 and Y6 can bring their mobile phone to school. There is a form for parents to fill in before the phone can be brought to school. This is available on the letter carousel at the school office. In line with several policies, the phones are kept in a box from morning register until home time and can not be used during school time. This policy can be viewed below.

 

Can my child walk home on their own?

Children in Y5 and Y6 can walk home from school by themselves. There is a form for parents to fill in before the child can walk home from school by themselves . This is available on the letter carousel at the school office. The school has a policy for children walking home and this can be viewed below. 

 

Can I have a paper copy?

 

Should you wish to receive a paper copy of any document / policy you have seen on the school website, please contact the school office, who will happily provide one for you free of charge.
