Never has a team deserved to win a trophy more than our 2014-15 "invincibles" and how fitting that in their last tournament they brought home the silverware! After finishing their league season undefeated and qualifying for the Manchester finals at the MUFC tournament, they signed off in style at the Sale and Partington Cup. They drew a tight first match 0-0 with St Joseph's, but it was winning all the way from there. Close 1-0 wins over Tyntesfield and St Anne's brought us to the inevitable clash of giants with Brooklands. Springfield raced out of the blocks into a 2 goal lead, including a spectacular volley from Ryan, which stuck in the net! Brooklands pulled 1 back, but in a tense finish, Musa snuck in to steal a 3rd goal and seal a valuable 3-1 win. The last match was against All Saints. Knowing a win would bring the trophy home the boys were anxious but more motivated than ever. An outstanding team performance of attack, defence and commitment brought the 1-0 win that was needed - and the celebrations that followed! Well done to all the players. A special mention for Adam, who stood in at the last minute and Tyler, Jake and James D who have played in lots of other games and contributed to the overflowing talent in the squad. Well done! Springfield is proud of you!
