No more spelling tests!

There will be no further spelling tests this year. Please continue to practise the year 1 tricky words as the children will need to read and write them next year, in addition to the year 2 words. When the children move to Year 2, they will be tested on these words.

Spelling Tests after the holidays

In our final half term of Year 1, we will be revisiting the common exception words required for Year 1. It is important that your child can read, write and spell these words correctly to meet age related expectations. If your child can already spell these words, please challenge them by asking them to write sentences using them.

All groups will have the same spellings.

Spelling tests for Thursday 25th March

Apologies for those who were not able to see the assignment in Spelling shed last week (human error!)

This weeks spellings are now a live assignment from 17.3.21 until 25.3.21. Please find below the spellings for each group.

Spellings Tests after lockdown

Our spelling tests will be on a Thursday during RWInc.

Spelling lists are based on the book your child is reading in RWInc and are, on the whole, phonetically plausible spellings.
Lists will be posted on this page and also set on Spelling Shed (As we have 4 groups, spelling lists have to be manually assigned in Spelling Shed, so if your child does not have the right spelling list, please let your class teacher know as it will be human error!)

Please continue to review all the spellings below.  We will not be setting any more spellings this term. Use the words when writing sentences independently, making sure they are spelt correctly and use SpellingShed to practise your spellings.  Thank you for your continued support.

Week 2 Spellings

The new spelling list for testing on Thursday 26th November has been sent on Spelling Shed.

If your child is confident with these spellings, as a challenge you can ask them to write interesting sentences using the words.

We have also attached the common exception spellings for the year for your information.  We have to learn to read, write and spell both the common exception words and the Read Write Inc red words by the end of Year 1.
Red words can be found on the page below.
