Nursery

Outdoor Fun!
The children enjoy learning in our outdoor garden, having fun with friends, sharing books, balancing, writing and much much more!

Spring Festivals

In the month of March, as Spring comes, there are many festivals around the world. In Nursery we have talked about Holi, Nowruz, Eid and Easter, looking at the similarities and differences between these celebrations. We have also looked at the signs of Spring around us. All of this has given us an opportunity to practise our counting skills, creative skills, writing skills and helping us to be aware of the world around us.

New Spinners!
We love our new outdoor spinners! The children have enjoyed exploring them - working together to balance, spin and use their strength to turn the wheel to go faster!

Stay and Play

We had a lovely time showing our grown ups all the areas of our wonderful nursery.

Football

As part of Let Girls Play, our Nursery children took part in football activities with Mr Brown.

World Book Day!

The children enjoyed dressing up as their favourite characters for World Book Day! We did a fashion show and took part in some book related activities.

Fantastic February!

We have been kept very busy in Nursery this month - we introduced the children to junk modelling! The children learnt how to make a phone, handbag, piano and anything they want out of recycled objects in our junk modelling boxes found in the creative area. Recently, we have been talking about jobs and what we want to be when we grow up. We were very lucky to have a very special visitor - our very own Site Manager - Mr Walker! He came in to talk to us and showed us what he has in his tool box. The children really enjoyed listening to him and loved pretending to be Mr Walker - fixing all areas of Nursery!

Happy Lunar New Year!

Children in our Nursery have been celebrating Lunar New Year so we have been taking part in a variety of activities. Happy Lunar New Year!

January Update!

January started off very cold, snowy and icy so it gave us an opportunity to investigate and explore ice. It was a great introduction to Winter! The children enjoyed taking part in Winter themed activities and of course going outside to build a snowman! The children have also been very busy learning in all areas of Nursery – counting, mark making, painting, using the computer and large iPad, as well as playing outside and taking part in Pen Disco and Write Dance. Last week we looked at Stick Man which we all loved!

Christmas Time!

During December, we had lots of opportunities to participate in new events as a group whilst counting down to Christmas. Working together is an important part of being in Nursery and the children have been absolutely fabulous.

The children practised and performed their Christmas songs in front of a large audience of parents and loved every minute of it!

We visited the Waterside Theatre to see The Bear performance to see amazing puppetry.

Our Christmas Fair and parties were very exciting as we tried new games, danced with friends and had fun with craft activities. We also took part in the Santa’s Dash with Santa’s hats on. We celebrated with hot chocolate and a gingerbread man after!

Everyone is ready for a good rest over the holidays and we look forward to our new experiences in 2025.

Thank you very much for your kind words, cards and gifts.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

November Round Up!

What a busy month we have had in nursery! We had our successful Rhyme Challenge, Children In Need Day, Odd Socks Day, a fantastic stay and play and amongst all that we have had lots of fun and learnt so much. We also opened the wooden block area and have created amazing models.

Fireworks!

Our first week back after the October holidays started with looking at fireworks! We watched a video of a firework display, talked about the sounds fireworks make and the colours we could see in the night sky. We also learnt a new word - 'multi-coloured!' Throughout the week we took part in a variety of activities using chalk, fluorescent paint and printing to create our own firework art.

PE and Music!

We are very lucky in Nursery to have Mrs Curzon and Mr Boardman visit us each week for music and Mr Brown on a Friday for PE. We love singing during Music and moving our bodies in PE and in our outdoor area.

Settling in together!

We have had a great few weeks together in Nursery, meeting new friends and settling into the daily routine. The children have done so well and are very excited about the play and experiences on offer. Last week, we have started thinking about ourselves and how we might be the same or different to other people around us. This week we have talked about the signs of Autumn. Lots of noticing and talking helps us to learn and build our skills as we play!

Our first few days in Nursery....

We have had a great time this week welcoming our new children into Nursery. We are looking forward to meeting the rest of our new friends next week!
