Please use the number rhymes below to help your child practise writing their numbers.
Number formation rhymes
Autumn 1
The children in Year 1 have been working on numbers to 10 covering the following objectives:
- counting forwards and backwards, including finding missing number on a number track
- 1 more and 1 less
- comparing numbers using < and > and =
- part part whole
- addition of two groups of numbers to find a total
All of this learning is carried out practically with objects before children do any recordings
We use lots of practical activities using manipulatives to develop our maths understanding
Autumn Term - the children have been learning about the part part whole model to support their understanding of addition
