Year 1 Homework
The children will have some activities each week to complete at home to support the learning they have done in school. Reading at home will always continue throughout the year. Activities for homework may vary from week to week and will be posted on this section of the website. NO HOMEWORK 11th-19th December
We will be collecting in all reading books and library books on Monday, please have a good look at home for any outstanding books you may have.
There is no specific homework for the last week. The children have produced some brilliant homework and we really all of your support over throughout the Autumn Term. Have a fabulous Christmas break!

Creative Activity
Make a Christmas or winter picture. Use whatever medium you like, i.e. paint, collage, pattern, sketch etc. Try to make them eye-catching so we can use them to decorate our classroom!

Science Homework
We have now learned about animals that are carnivores, herbivores or omnivores. Using a piece of paper from home, draw a large picture of an animal and write a sentence to say if they are a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore. e.g. a rabbit is a herbivore and eats grass, hay and vegetables. Add labels or extra information for a challenge. Please send your picture in for us to display in school.

Science - Animals
As we have been learning about animal classification in Science, we would like the children to draw a (large) picture of an animal, focusing on detail and the animal's features. Write a sentence with the animal name and classification, e.g. 'A Giraffe is a mammal'. Add labels to challenge yourself further! Please use a piece of paper from home use colour if you wish. We will look forward to seeing them and displaying them in our classrooms.

As the children have learned how to draw a self-portrait using line, shape and proportion in school and have learned about what it was like when grandparents were young, we would like them to draw a facial portrait of a grandparent using the piece of paper provided. Please see guidance below:

The children all have a login for Purple Mash stuck into their reading record. A homework task called a 'to do' has been set for the children to complete at home. The task is addition using the part-part whole method they have learned in school. The task will be on an alert when they log into Purple Mash.
History
Thank you to those who have already sent in old toys, photos, etc. for our class museums. There is still time to bring things in, as we are still teaching the topic. Please don't worry if you don't have anything, we will have lots of artefacts to look at!

History/Oracy
We are looking at how life as a child has changed over time since their grandparents were little. We would like to create a mini classroom museum of artefacts from the past (from when the grandparent was a child). If you have them, we would like each child to bring in an item from the past to put on display in our mini classroom museum, for example, a teddy, doll, games, cassette tapes, baby clothes, photograph of grandparent playing with toy etc.

Homework 11th - 18th September
Reading
Your child should have brought home one or two reading books this week to read at home with a new reading record. Please listen to your child read each day, little and often is the best way. Please ensure your child has their reading record and reading book in their bag every day.

The new books that the children have read during Read Write Inc. lessons this week, are now available on Oxford Owl. Their individual logins are the same as last year but we will aim to stick a reminder in their new reading records next week.
