The theme for National Poetry Day this year was 'Refuge.' The Year 5 children were introduced to 2 poems - Everyone Comes From Somewhere By Michael Rosen and We Are All Migrants To Be Honest by Leah Ross. We learned the definition of the word 'refuge' and the difference between the terms 'migrant' and 'refugee.' We listened to a short story, written from the point of view of a refugee child, and then used an online poetry generator to create our own poem about being a refugee.
