Father Christmas
Since we have been working so hard this half term, we had a very special visitor this morning - Father Christmas!
Christmas Production
Year 2 were all stars in their Christmas production - Let it Shine! We hope that you enjoyed watching it as much as we did performing it.
Poppies
As part of our learning about World War 1 we have been making poppies. We made them out of clay using the 'slip and score' technique to attach the centre and the stem. After letting them dry we painted them using our knowledge about colour to add shading. We held an exhibition so that we could look at everyone's designs - aren't they amazing!
Year 2 Dahl's visit to Lark Hill Place
As part of our history topic 'Our Town Sale', we visited Lark Hill Place to learn all about life as a Victorian.
We walked down a Victorian street and compared it to or our own streets in Sale. We discussed how very different it was in the Victorian times.
Learning about the different jobs people did around the house and also looking at the toys Victorian children played with was really interesting and made us even more aware of how life has changed.
Visit to Sale Town Hall Cenotaph
On the 11th day of the 11th month Year 2 Dahl visited the Cenotaph to remember the millions who had died at war.
Mrs Saleem read the poem 'In Flanders Field' by John McCrae
Children laid a wreath to remember the soldiers who died for us in WW1 and WW2 and said a prayer.
YEAR 2 DAHL ASSEMBLY
What an amazing assembly was performed by Year 2 Dahl for parents, carers, family and friends,
The assembly kicked off with children in amazing costumes talking about their favourite characters from Roald Dahl books followed closely by the Geography and History topic – 'My Town Sale.'
Children performed their parts brilliantly with clear and loud voices.
Well done, Year 2 Dahl!
Mrs Saleem/Mrs Platts Maths Set working very hard.
Road safety!
What an exciting morning we had learning about road safety. After a fabulous assembly we all went outside to learn how to be safe near roads, especially when there are enormous lorries nearby. We all got to sit in the driver's seat of a real lorry and some of us blew the horn! It was so loud!
Just like Roald Dahl wrote, Year 2 Dahl believe:
'Somewhere inside all of us is the power to change the world'.
As part of our new topic 'My Town', Y2 Dahl went on a walk around Sale.
We looked at places of interest that make Sale special to us.
