Maths

This week we are looking at counting in 2's, 5's and 10's which will prepare the children for multiplication and times tables work in Year 2. Again, choose the activities that suit your child or come up with your own practical ways of counting. BBC bitesize has some fun activities this week!

Lessons 1 - 3 (Monday to Wednesday)

Count in 2's from any given number

Count in 5's from any given number

Count in 10's from any given number

The children have touched on this at school so if they are confident counting in 2's, 5's and 10's, try a challenge sheet (showing counting in different ways).

Practical ideas:

Use real pairs of socks, label them and count. Start from 2 first, then try starting from a higher number - count forwards and backwards. Or use objects, make a bracelets with 2, 5, or 10 beads. You can have a lot of fun with this lesson!

Do you have a strategy? How do you do it?
