At Springfield we care, learn and achieve together.

We strive to use these four Springfield values in everything that we do.

We support and care for each other.

We challenge ourselves to learn.

We are motivated to achieve our best.

Together, we are a team.

Today we learnt how to read a map and had a go at an orienteering course on our school grounds.

Year 5 had a fantastic time at Jodrell Bank learning about Earth and Space for our science topic. We really impressed the staff with all our knowledge and insightful questions. Our highlights of the trip were our 'Mars Rover Challenge' and our session in the inflatable planetarium. What a great day! Thank you to Sermed's mum and Karim's mum for accompanying us.

Over 100 Springfield pupils, parents and staff took part in a 10 mile sponsored walk to prepare ourselves for our residential trip to Langdale. Supporting and caring for each other, challenging ourselves, being motivated to achieve our best and working together as a team, we made it round with record enthusiasm and determination. A great start to our Lamgdale preparations!

Our Fixperts partner, Bill, was so pleased with the prototypes we had developed to help him with the things he he told us about finding difficult. We demonstrated all of our school values during this project, particularly 'we support and care for each other' and 'together, we are a team'.

We've been hard at work with our 'Fixperts' project today. We are looking forward to seeing Bill again later in the week and presenting to him our products and ideas.

We've enjoyed celebrating World Book Day. What a fantastic display of creative and original costumes!

We are all going to work hard to demonstrate the Springfield Values.

Take a look at what we have been learning.

We made models of the Earth after learning about its structure. Can you name the different layers shown?

Thank You

Congratulations 5 Hubble on completing your first term in year 5! You have all worked incredibly hard this term and deserve a well-earned rest. Thank you to all parents for the endless support you provide for your children as well as some very generous Christmas presents. I have had a wonderful first term with your children and look forward to continue teaching them in 2019!

I hope you all have a lovely break, a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Miss Offord

We had lots of fun at our Christmas Party!

Continuing our work on forces, today we have investigated water resistance and its effect on different shapes.

Our sport for this half term is Handball. We have been practising a range of different passing techniques in our PE lesson.

We are so impressed with the quality of homework projects that have been brought in today. Here are just a few of the many wonderful creations that the children have shared with us today!

In our history topic lessons, we have been exploring what life was like in an Anglo-Saxon village.

In science we have been investigating the force of gravity using force meters. We measured the weight (in Newtons) of various classroom objects and compared these measurement systems to the mass of the objects.

5 Hubble have made an impressive start to the new school year. Here we are getting stuck in to our history topic. We are learning about how the Anglo-Saxons influenced some of the place names that we use today.

At Springfield we care, learn and achieve together
