Mrs Bevan, Mrs Gardner, Miss Ryan, Miss Buswell and Mrs Cutteridge
Yesterday, we had the pleasure of a visit from Mr & Mrs Anderson. Mr & Mrs Anderson are professional musicians and parents of children in older year groups, and every year since their children were in Reception, they have come into school to play for us. They wrote a story about a walk around Springfield, accompanied by music and talked to the children about the instruments they play.
The music was fantastic and the children had a wonderful time, it was an absolute pleasure to watch them play and to watch the enjoyment on the children’s faces. Thank you again to Mr & Mrs Anderson!
REMINDER - Sports Day on Tuesday! 9.30am in KS2 playground (playground 2).
Children will arrive at school in their uniform and will change into their PE kits here. Please ensure that your child’s PE kit is back in school on Monday. In the case of hot weather, please apply sun cream at home before they come to school and provide a sun hat. Bottles of water must be labelled with their name please.
Thank you, hope to see many of you there.

STAYING SAFE IN THE SUN
In response to this lovely weather we would like to remind all parents to keep their child safe in the sun. Please ensure you apply suncream to your child before school. They can bring sun cream into school that will stay in their book bag. This should be named and the children will be encouraged to put it on themselves. Please also bring in named sun hats when needed.
Bees bees bees!
The children listened to the classical music ‘Flight of the Bumblebee’. Lots of children talked about how it made them feel, what it reminded them of and if they liked it or not. They then went on to talk about their experience of bees and move their bodies to the music. This has all been in response to the bees making a home in our playground bird box. We talked about how important bees are in our world and that they are endangered. Please continue this learning journey at home and encourage the children to come in and share any facts or feelings.
Maths Challenges will be sent home each week. Please feel free to record the challenges in the Home Learning Journey and send them in to share. We always try to share them when time allows.
Please can all Home Learning Journeys be sent in on Thursday 13th June for us to explore the children's learning and adventures from home.
Thank you for your support.

We will be sending home the order in which we are learning the Set 3 sounds. Please check your Speed Sounds Book 2 and 3 match this order. Additional sheets that may have been missed will also be in the book bags. Thank you for your continued support.

MATHS DROP IN
A very busy parent drop in. Thank you to all the parents that were able to attend. We hope you enjoyed the activities and the opportunity to catch up with the staff. Enjoy the packs and use them to explore number and maths with your child.
THE EVIL PEAS
The children have loved designing and making traps to try to capture the Evil Peas, they had lots of amazing ideas and talked about how the traps would work. We also made 'Wanted' posters to help us.
Next step - catch those evil peas. We have made some jelly ready to set the team trap!
Following on from talking about what makes the children special and unique we have stared to find out about superheroes.
We have set up a superhero headquarters...if you have any ideas, resources or toys at home that would help us explore this topic please send them in. Thank you.
Safer Internet Day
The children had an assembly yesterday all about how to stay safe on the internet. They also read the story 'Smartie The Penguin'. Have look if you want to find out more.
Enjoy the snow and please send photos into school to share your adventures. We will talk about them tomorrow.
Thank you and take care!
Escape From The Ice
The children thought of different ways they could rescue the explorers. They got into teams and tried their different ideas. They all helped using their different ideas and slowly as the ice began to melt our first explorer escaped. Then in the final smash both our explorers were out. As a class we talked about which ideas were most successful and used this knowledge to try and melt the ice further to get the polar bears out. The baby polar bear made it out. But we still have to save the mummy polar bear. Wish us luck!
